Truly
a labor of love, The Jane A. Stickle Quilt,
made during the Civil War,
has appeared in numerous quilting magazines and books throughout
the years.
This grand old quilt contains 13 rows of 13 square blocks
(169 total square blocks)
each differing in pattern, containing the surprising amount of 5,602
pieces
surrounded by an unusual triangular pieced and scalloped border.
EACH ROW is available as a set
for your 4x4
hoop, 5x7 hoop, or your 6x10
hoop.
Blocks are stitched with a maximum
of five colors.
Most blocks require only two or three colors.
The last color listed (Natural Muslin) is the background color.
When I use the blocks for a quilt, I NEVER stitch the last color.
Instead, I choose my fabric to be my background color.
Whether to stitch or NOT stitch the last color is simply a matter
of taste....
and your taste is the one that counts!
The only time I stitch the last color is when I display a single
block --
such as in a wall grouping of two or three framed individual blocks.
Along with the design files,
you also receive a text file that includes color combinations for
several color schemes.
The
first color scheme shown, closely
replicates the colors
used in the actual Jane A. Stickle quilt as shown above.
The second color scheme shown gives you an idea of what
other
creative possibilities lie ahead!
Please realize that the calicos used in the blocks are my own Civil
War Reproduction style calicos,
following those in the Jane A. Stickle quilt as a color guideline
only.
This is done in an effort to make stitching the blocks as easy as
possible.
Afterall, there are quite a few blocks in the entire quilt!
However, the shape of each block design is EXTREMELY
close to the original quilt,
but is my own adaptation from photographs.
This is where accuracy is important!
Please realize that each block is cross stitched.
The blocks are not pieced like the original quilt.
You will be able to complete the quilt using all the blocks,
or customize your own quilt with as few or as many blocks as you
please!
THESE QUILT BLOCKS CONTAIN
VERY FEW THREAD CHANGES!
Retail
Price $35.00 PER ROW
Introductory
Price $25.00 Per Patch
Each row includes 13 unique cross stitched quilt blocks that look
like hand piecing!
Each inner square row
is available in THREE
hoop sizes:
6x10 hoop -- Finished design size is 148mm x 148mm.
5x7 hoop -- Finished design size is 123mm x 123mm.
4x4 hoop -- Finished design size is 98mm x 98mm.
Each border triangle row is available in THREE hoop sizes:
6x10 hoop -- Finished design size is 148mm x 227mm.
5x7 hoop -- Finished design size is 115mm x 176mm.
4x4 hoop -- Finished design size is 98mm x 97mm.
Due to the size limitations of your 4x4 hoop, the height proportion
of the 4x4
triangle blocks and the 4x4
corner blocks is not as tall as in the
original quilt.
Slight design modifications were necessary to prevent the need of
re-hooping each triangle.
Print
these templates at 100% (do not enlarge or reduce)
to see the design area for each hoop size.
If you plan to stitch 1/4" seams, add
1/4" seam allowance around each template.
