Rosemaling, Vol.1
**Quilt Blocks
**

Rosemaling (pronounced rose-mahl-ing)
is a decorative style of folk painting
first developed in Norway during the mid 1700s.
The unique style features flourishes, florettes, and latticework.

Most rosemaling is done in a combination of
blues, greens, mauves, and yellows...........

with lots of white detailing.

In the rosemaling style quilt above, flourishes and florettes abound!

To achieve an exquisite quilted effect,
after you complete the machine cross stitching of the florettes,
slide a layer of lowloft batting
and a layer of muslin beneath the hoop.
Do NOT re-hoop!
Finish the stitching by quilting the latticework and flourishes
with white backstitching.
Piece your blocks together with the lap quilting method.
With this process, you can make an heirloom quilt
in a matter of days instead of months or years.
What could be easier?

For variety, you can even use the designs
without the white backstitching!

**EASY PROJECT IDEAS**
Try making a pillow,
or frame a block to hang in that blank space on your wall,
stitch several in a row to create a tablerunner,
or stitch your favorite blocks together to create a small tabletopper!

These designs will make a wonderful wedding gift....
just change the white backstitching
to silver or gold for special anniversaries!
