Album Cameos
**Quilt Blocks**

Remember
the cameo brooches that your mother and grandmother wore
when they were dressed up in their finest attire?
These Baltimore designs feature an inner
cameo that is circled in gold
as a tribute to the heirloom quilts designed and appliquéd
first
in the Baltimore area in the 1840s and 1850s.
These designs contain beautiful quilting stitches to complete
each block in the hoop!
If you need lap quilting instructions, please be sure to request
them.
We have easy-to-follow directions geared toward the beginning
seamstress.
Since there is so much beautiful detail for you to see in these
designs,
here is an enlargement of each section of the quilt.

Traditionally, the quilting
stitches around Baltimore Album designs were done in ecru.
For an updated and more
formal look try using black for the quilting stitches.
EASY
PROJECT IDEA
When you expect to have several wallhanging sized quilts
you'd like to display throughout the year,
make a "Modular Quilt Mat".
Choose two different fabrics that coordinate with your household
color scheme.
Make a double-sided rectangle of fabric with a sleeve opening
at the top with one of your fabrics.
Make a second double-sided rectangle of fabric with a sleeve opening
at the top that is approximately 4" smaller in height and
width.
Stack the smaller rectangle on top of the larger rectangle.
Pin securely in place on the back.
Stack your embroidered quilt top on top of the smaller rectangle.
Secure with pins or whipstitching.
Slide a dowel through the sleeve and hang with decorative cord.
When you change out your embroidered quilt top,
you can choose to use both layers or just one layer
of your Modular Quilt Mat for the new treasure you're about to
hang.
My Modular Quilt Mat is long because
it actually hangs behind a bed's headboard or part of a dresser
that doesn't show the bottom.
